NTS reveals storage arm ambitions
VAR has big plans for first foray into storage market
Blueprint to expansion: NTS is pushing for growth with its storage division
Security reseller Network Technology Solutions (NTS) has set an ambitious target of a £2.5m turnover for its new storage division in 2009.
The London-based VAR has recruited ex-Symantec manager Simon Ibbotson to head up the unit and has already bagged accreditations with Sun, Compellent and EqualLogic.
NTS managing director Jonathan Lassman said the strategy mirrors storage vendor EMC’s recent assault on the security market.
“To stop data leaving the building you have to know where it is. Therefore, it makes sense to start talking about a converged information security approach,” he said.
“We already see a pipeline of £2m in the first quarter.”
Nick Garlick, managing director of security VAR Nebulas Solutions Group, said he had no plans to build in-house storage capabilities because of its partnership with storage integrator MTI.
“We are known for specialising in security, acceleration and virtualisation. Storage is a vast field in its own right and partnering can bring in additional specialist services,” he said.
