Logicalis opens 10,000sq ft datacentre

Swanky new facility will aid provision of tailored cloud and virtualisation services

Tom Kelly: This new datacentre will allow organisations to exploit a new era of game-changing, high density technologies

Integrator Logicalis has opened the doors on a state of the art 10,000sq ft datacentre and to help offer bespoke services to enterprise customers.

Situated on the M4 corridor, the Tier 3+ datacentre will facilitate the provision of hosted and managed services around virtualisation, networking and storage technology. The facility will also support Logicalis' own Cooperative Enterprise Cloud Service offering.

Logicalis UK managing director Tom Kelly said: “As a trusted partner to many national and international organisations, Logicalis is committed to investing in innovative, enterprise-class IT resources that facilitate and future-proof our customers’ business strategies.

"This new datacentre will allow organisations to exploit a new era of game-changing high density technologies, without financial or operational risk, and in an environment optimised for stability and availability.”

The high density datacentre features twin data halls, each with a 2N power design. It also offers four, eight, 12 and 32kW racks across the board, which Logicalis claims will permit end users to put both high and low density systems together.

This will increase convergence and reduce costs, claimed the integrator, while a free air cooling system will boost the datacentre's green credentials. The facility is situated adjacent to Logicalis' Managed Service Centre.

Simon Daykin, chief technology officer at Logicalis UK, said: “Customers do not want to compromise business reliability, and therefore the co-location of management, development and datacentre facilities allows customers to mitigate the risks from rapid deployments, migrations and service construction.

"They also want to work with a managed hosting provider offering pre-built value added services and, with the investments Logicalis is making in cloud services, customers can choose the ownership and operational model for a data centre that suits their specific business and operational priorities.”
