VAR Handd has helped London law firm Stephenson Harwood increase its data security with a new managed file transfer system.

The Berkshire-based managed file transfer specialist implemented Ipswitch's MOVEit DMZ to help the law firm securely manage all of its data interactions with policy enforcement and full auditing capability.

Chris Petrie, director of IT at Stephenson Harwood, said: “Working with banks and financial services, all the data we handle is highly confidential. Our security is routinely audited by these organisations and they expect us to meet their standards.”

He said the firm was looking at a solution that would help it pass data between companies that were not as well prepared as some of the larger financial organisations, and Handd’s offering was just right.

“We were looking for a solution that is completely secure, with quick and easy-to-set-up transfers, that could handle large files, create an audit log of what had been transferred in and out, and provide confirmation that the client received the files exactly as they were sent, and when the files were actually received by the client,” he added.

"The implementation of the system was completed expertly in a very short period of time by Handd, and without any major problems,” said Petrie. “Since the installation we haven’t had any major issues at all.”
