Topnordic ties knot with Cablux

Reseller hails itself as Denmark's top cabling firm

Acquisition hungry Danish VAR Topnordic has claimed it is the country’s undisputed leader in cabling after snapping up optic fibre installation specialist Cablux.

The acquisition will add 35 employees to Topnordic’s 110-strong cabling wing, which the firm said would catapult it ahead of current leader Eltel Networks.

Martin Trolle, chief finance officer at Topnordic, the Danish wing of Nordic reseller giant Ementor, said there is a natural fit between Cablux and Topnordic’s networking activities with Cisco and Hewlett-Packard.

“We are now able to deliver a full green-field infrastructure solution, including cooling and fibre cabling in the server room,” he said.

“We will definitely be the strongest player in the Danish cabling market through this acquisition.”

Shaune Parsons, managing director of UK corporate reseller Computer World Wales, said cabling is not something his firm specialises in. “We have always offered cabling because sometimes VARs need to provide a turnkey solution,” he said. “But it’s a laborious job and we tend to use third parties.”

Henrik Mütze, sales and marketing manager at Cablux, said joining forces with one of the company’s three main rivals will completely transform the Danish cabling landscape.

“In Denmark, there have traditionally been four companies of a similar size and possessing similar knowledge of the cabling market: us, Glenco, Eltel Networks and Topnordic,” he said.

“Topnordic will now become the largest player, with 10 to 15 per cent of its employees working in the cabling and fibre optics sector.”

Mütze added that the acquisition will allow Cablux, which operates primarily in the telecoms space, to deepen its footprint in the fibre-to-home sector by attacking Topnordic’s base of utilities clients.

The DKr10m (£909,000) acquisition is set to boost Topnordic’s annual turnover by DKr40m (£3.6m).
