Calyx buys way into end-to-end services

Voice and data integrator Calyx says it can now offer UK customers an end-to-end managed service after grabbing infrastructure specialist ServiceTec from parent SGS Group.

ServiceTec is Calyx’s first acquisition since it was made private in a management buy out led by chief executive Maurice Healy this summer.
Kieran Archer, director of mergers and acquisitions at Dublin-based Calyx, said: “This is a very good strategic fit as Calyx in the UK is weighted towards voice and data communications. This adds significant volumes in the desktop and server space, which means we can now offer an end-to-end managed service, from the circuits in the ground to the applications.”
Bob Tarzey, service director at analyst Quocirca, called it an excellent move.
“Managed services are where it is at and to get the most out of your customers you need a whole portfolio. With Calyx coming from a networking background, moving into the higher-value desktop services market will, if anything, take it upmarket,” he said.
