Emerson looks to recruit for SME drive

Partners needed for vendor's new SME-centric product portfolio

Lambrecht: We will draw on the experience gained through working with larger customers to target SMEs

Emerson Network Power wants its channel to help bring its expertise in solving enterprise-size datacentre problems to the SME market.

At Emerson’s recent partner event in London, the vendor said it plans to launch a new SME-centric product portfolio within the next three months and recruit additional partners to market it.

Peter Lambrecht, vice president of channel at Emerson, said the driving force behind the move is to capture some of the “significant amounts” of money spent on IT by SME customers across the globe.

“We will draw on the experience gained through working with larger customers over the years to target SMEs,” he said.

The product portfolio will include off-the-shelf solutions aimed specifically at tackling SME customers’ power and cooling needs in the data centre.

Despite the vendor’s insistence on opening up opportunities within the SME space, the firm has no such plans for the enterprise.

“There would be little margin available for partners if we were to give them access to our large customers, so we will continue to serve them direct,” added Lambrecht.
