Sophos unveils SME offerings
Vendor launches Small Business Solutions
Anti-virus and anti-spam vendor Sophos has today launched its first product dedicated to the growing SME market.
The firm is planning to sell its Small Business Solutions through its network of channel partners according to David Stanley, general manager UK at Sophos.
"The decision to launch products for small businesses is a reflection of what our resellers and customers have been asking for. We have traditionally supplied the medium-sized firms, so it is a natural progression to supply smaller firms because demand has increased," Stanley said.
He added that software will be available on both Windows and Mac platforms.
The vendor has released three versions of its software: one pure anti-virus, one pure anti-spam and the third is a combination of the two, known as Sophos PureMessage. According to Stanley, Sophos is recruiting extra staff to create a sales team dedicated to the channel.
"Initially we are looking to sell this through our existing partners, but we hope it will open up new markets and allow us to take on new partners," he said.
Dave Simpson, sales and marketing director at VAR Softcat, said: "Our Sophos sales figures have gone through the roof this year, but this has been mainly for firms with 100 to 3,000 staff. We have always struggled with firms that have less than 100 staff.
"For us this is brilliant; it is a tailored small-business anti-virus and anti-spam solution that allows us to install it and leave. It is priced competitively and there is definitely a demand for it."
