New broom for Marshal8e6
Former Finjan and Tumbleweed boss to head up web and email security vendor
John Vigouroux
Acquisitive security vendor Marshal8e6 has unveiled Silicon Valley veteran John Vigouroux as its new chief executive.
Vigouroux was most recently chief executive of web security vendor Finjan and before that president of messaging security outfit Tumbleweed. He pulled in $50m (£34m) of funding while at his two previous firms.
Vigouroux's appointment comes less than a week after Marshal8e6 announced it had acquired behavioural malware analysis specialist Avinti. Marshal8e6 itself was created when UK-based Marshal and US rival 8e6 Technologies merged last November.
Vigouroux, whose previous firms also include Cisco and Adobe, claimed that Marshal8e6 is well positioned to tackle the growing spectre of blended threats.
“By leveraging the company’s combined web and email expertise, we will continue to grow as a leading security provider in the vital business of protecting networks from today’s increasingly blended threats,” he said.
Simon Wilson, Marshal8e6’s chairman of the board, said: “Our company has the opportunity to become the go-to provider of integrated secure web and email gateway solutions, and we are confident that John’s experience will be instrumental as we position ourselves to be a top player in this market.”
