CAD VARs see Symetri in merger

Imass Design Solutions and Trionics combine forces

Autodesk resellers Imass Design Solutions and Trionics have relaunched as one business under the name Symetri.

The new name and branding was unveiled at a customer conference in Sheffield, following a strategic agreement earlier this year after the two firms decided to combine their skills to become a CAD powerhouse.

Before the merger, both VARs had a strong reputation in the manufacturing CAD sector, covering a range of industries including oil and gas, renewables, nuclear, heavy machinery and automotive components.

The new Symetri division is a business unit of Infoterra, part of parent company EADS Astrium. It already supports 32 per cent of Autodesk’s installed manufacturing base in the UK, making it the largest Autodesk manufacturing solutions reseller in Northern Europe.

Colin Watson, director responsible for Symetri, said: “We’re investing in building a business that is second to none. Creating a new brand is very exciting; it is not just a name change – it is about having more experience, being best in class and providing strong support to our customers.

“We want them to ask themselves why they would do business with anyone else.”

Kevin Ison, European customer and industry marketing director at Autodesk, welcomed the combined firm.

“The integration of Imass Design Solutions and Trionics is an exciting development in our channel. Symetri customers can expect a focus on delivering best-in-class technical consultancy, training and design solutions.

“I am sure Colin Watson and his team will continue with the excellent levels of service and support that customers of both companies have come to expect.”
