Red Hat targets Intel channel

Vendors team up to unleash joint programme to help Intel partners break into the Linux space

Red Hat and Intel have unveiled a new channel programme designed to give Intel partners a leg-up into the Linux arena.

The Global Channel Acceleration Programme, launched just weeks after Linux giant Novell launched an assault on the UK Intel system builder space (CRN, 12 February), is open to all Intel Premier and Associate partners.

According to Red Hat and Intel, the initiative will allow members to swiftly create pre-certified Linux solutions on Intel platforms.

Although entry to the programme is free of charge, prospective partners must be enrolled in both the Intel Enterprise Server Acceleration Alliance and Red Hat Ready programme.

Steve Dallman, general manager of Intel’s worldwide channel, said in a statement: “We’re very pleased to help our Intel Channel Partner Program members with rapid entry into the expanding Linux marketplace with Red Hat's comprehensive portfolio of solutions.”

“The Global Channel Acceleration Program also paves the way to ongoing revenue possibilities made possible by Red Hat’s subscription renewal model of payment.”

Ed Boyajian, vice president and general manager, North American sales at Red Hat, added: “With the Global Channel Acceleration Program, Intel Channel Partner Programme members can enter the multi- billion Linux market immediately.”

“We’re very pleased about helping Intel’s top resellers grow their businesses with more quality, certified solutions.”
