Citadel enters liquidation
Reseller wound up after dispute over late payment
Reseller Citadel Group has entered voluntary liquidation, as the market climate and changing channel landscape claims another victim.
The London-based VAR sold products from vendors such as Hewlett-Packard, IBM, Cisco, Sun and NetScreen.
A representative of The Insolvency Service, part of the Department of Trade and Industry, confirmed that the company has gone under. "It was wound up on 21 July," he said. Further information was unavailable.
Distributor Unipalm put forward a petition to wind up the firm in June, following a dispute over late payment.
Mark Elsworth, marketing director at Unipalm, said: "We were advised that we were unlikely to get our money, and we decided to petition to wind up the firm to protect other companies."
Kay Eggleston, UK country manager at one of the reseller's creditors, distributor Risc Technology, said: "If a reseller is struggling the quiet summer season is often enough to kill it off."
