SCH's organic plans for 2005
VAR posts strong results and vows to continue growth 'organically'
Pan-European VAR Specialist Computer Holdings (SCH) is planning further organic expansion after reporting its thirtieth year of positive financial results.
The firm posted turnover of £1.8bn and a £30.7m profit for the year ended 31 March 2004. UK turnover was £828m, 44 per cent of the total. Services accounted for 15 per cent, while enterprise technology made up a quarter.
Stephen Rigby, European sales director at SCH, said: "It's been a difficult market, but if you look at European business, the UK economy is in very good shape."
The firm made three strategic acquisitions in 2004: Pluz BV, the payroll bureau business of Hays plc Group and the IT services arm of ATR Group. But the emphasis will be on organic growth this year, Rigby said. However, he refused to rule out further acquisitions. "All I can say is watch this space," he said.
Clive Longbottom, service director at Quocirca, said: "These figures look strong and show the market is not just smooth for the big guys, such as EDS, IBM and Siemens."
