Blue Coat nets Permeo deal
Acquisition will help channel partners, vendor claims
Secure content vendor Blue Coat Systems has hailed its acquisition of Permeo Technologies as a boost to channel partners.
The firm last week signed a definitive agreement to acquire the endpoint security vendor for approximately $60.8m, subject to customary conditions. The deal is expected to close in approximately 60 days.
As a result Permeo’s endpoint technology will be integrated with the Blue Coat ProxySG family of appliances.
Nigel Hawthorn, marketing director EMEA at BlueCoat, said: “Many firms have ensured that their corporate network has the right security policies defined inside the headquarters, but access outside the network can be a problem. This acquisition will allow our channel partners to sell a more complete solution.”
David Ellis, director of e-security at distributor Unipalm, said: “One of the things Permeo has lacked in the UK has been a local footprint, and Blue Coat has a strong indirect channel.”
