White quits Info'Products to take up role at Ingram

Resignation Product strategy and supply boss latest to jump ship.

Ingram Micro is taking advantage of the continuing exodus fromip. Info'Products by snapping up the latest senior employee to leave the reseller's team.

Alan White, head of product strategy and supply at Info'Products, will leave on 24 July. He has been poached by Ingram to become director of purchasing, after less than a year at the Dutch-owned reseller (PC Dealer, 8 July).

Sandy Scott, Ingram managing director, said it approached White after being 'impressed by the strategy he had put in place at Info'-Products'.

This included his work with inventory levels, purchasing, stock turns and the lines carried.

He added White was due to start at Ingram by the end of July.

Info'Products is also due to lose Tony Waddington, business manager for the City, in August.

The latest departures follow in the wake of the exit of Howard Dickel, former business development director at the reseller and Andrew Little, business development manager.

Both abandoned their work in Info'Products' Total Cost of Ownership venture for consultants, Summit Management Solutions.

Industry sources blamed the estimated 100 resignations over the past six months on financial incompetence, low morale and a distinct lack of leadership.

Sources say Info'Products still owns the former Simmons Magee headquarters, estimated to be worth about #2 million.

It acquired the Basingstoke site more than a year ago, but has not sold it, despite last year's financial losses. It was also apparently forced to spend about #500,000 to halt the building of a new headquarters after the losses were discovered.

One source asked: 'If Info'Products loses its services and TCO, how can it add value to customers?'

The departures follow lost contracts this year, including National Australia Group and Citibank.

Info'Products refused to comment on the departures.
