DCM agrees Expand deal
Distributor partners with broadband optimisation vendor
Data Communications Management (DCM) UK has partnered with broadband optimisation vendor Expand Networks to address voice over IP (VoIP).
The Irish distributor set up a UK operation in March, headed by Scott Dobson, formerly vice-president EMEA at Expand.
At the time Dobson said DCM would consult on Expand's products but was not a distributor.
Now that a UK agreement has been signed, Dobson said the bandwidth optimisation products from Expand will stimulate VoIP sales for DCM's resellers. "One of the biggest inhibitors to carrying voice across data networks is bandwidth availability," he said.
DCM UK, which has already signed 20 VARs, is looking to take on a value-added distribution role. It sells products from Tadiran and Zultys as well as Expand and will soon announce a vendor relationship with Vegastream.
Henry West, sales director at DCM VAR Westcom Networks, said: "Having worked with DCM for only a few weeks, we are winning VoIP business through it."
Westcom Networks did some VoIP work before it started working with DCM, West added.
