Vistorm wins key role in in Police National Network 3
Cable & Wireless relationship pays off for information assurance specialist
Information assurance specialist Vistorm has won a key role in the Police National Network 3 (PNN3) Framework Arrangement through its partnership with Cable & Wireless.
Cable & Wireless was recently awarded the five-year telecommunications and data contract by the Police IT Organisation (PITO) to provide secure managed voice, data, video, hosting and internet services to all UK police forces, as well as more than 100 organisations in the criminal justice system.
As part of the deal, Vistorm, which has recently celebrated a ‘record’ financial year with 30 per cent growth, will provide secure remote access for laptops and mobile devices across the UK police network.
Speaking to CRN, Dan Turner, general manager for professional services at Vistorm, said: “We have moved away from being a reseller and moved towards being a technology-centric services player. We have already done some government-accredited work for PITO through our Cable & Wireless partnership and we are very excited about our involvement in the PNN3 Framework.
“This project will require all aspects of our capability and it will go across all three lines of our business: managed services, technical resale and integration.”
Turner added that work on the project will ‘ramp up’ considerably over the coming weeks.
“We already have a couple of dedicated people working on PNN3 project as we start to implement all the pieces,” he said.
Martin Goodman, director of public sector at Cable & Wireless, said in a statement: “PNN3 is an exciting and necessary development in the drive towards a modern police service. It is an important advancement for the way UK policing is carried out because it facilitates greater communication between forces and secure access to centralised data.”
