Catalink scores for Elcom Group

Elcom's US PC remarketing subsidiary Catalink Direct has won a $100 million procurement contract from retail giant Smith Barney.

The contract covers Smith Barney's Next Gen project and involves supplying about 20,000 Compaq PCs to some 500 Smith Barney branches, plus Catalink's Pecos electronic commerce ordering technology.

Mike Mason, sales director at Lantec Information Services, Catalink's sister company, said: 'This agreement is a landmark for the Elcom Group.

The Pecos technology was instrumental in winning the deal.'

Pecos is an interactive electronic catalogue and transaction-based integrated ordering system that Elcom claims shortens procurement time, reduces costs and increases customer convenience.
