Zycko Hungary for growth

Distributor now drawing over half its sales from overseas as it opens another mainland European office

Danube dreams: Zycko has opened an office in Budapest to grow its local presence

Zycko’s EMEA expansion drive is stepping up a gear as the distributor opens up in Hungary and prepares to touch down in several other new territories.

A four-man outpost in Budapest launched yesterday and Zycko has already signed a local contract with key vendor ally Riverbed.

The UK-based firm, which has set itself the goal of growing revenue 20 per cent to £160m this year, now claims to generate 60 per cent of sales from overseas.

Zycko group sales and marketing director David Galton-Fenzi said the distributor is reviewing the possibility of launching a direct presence in the Czech Republic and the United Arab Emirates.

He said that Hungary had grown to become an important territory for Zycko.

“We completed a significant order with [vendor partner] Force10 Networks there and have some good established business, but we need local technical, sales and marketing support in place,” he said.

Zycko is also putting local resource into the Scottish market for the first time, Galton-Fenzi said.

“We did the Scottish government with Riverbed and some good business and resellers up there,” he said. “It is about ensuring they have proper support.”
