Comstor and Cisco walk global talk
New head Pritchard says global model transition will take about five months
Comstor claims its global Cisco business unit will allow VARs to benefit from new tools and a guaranteed level of service throughout the world.
Comstor Worldwide was launched last month, five months after parent Westcon Group inked a standardised global distribution contract with Cisco.
Jon Pritchard, executive vice president of Comstor Worldwide, said: “It is all well and good talking a global story, but we had to start acting it. In some countries there will be massive value-add, but there is always a minimum level of stockholding, credit and support.”
Pritchard is assisted by vice president William Corbin, who manages the unit’s relationship with Cisco. Country managers and theatre vice presidents will report to Pritchard.
Pritchard indicated the transition to a global model would take about five months.
“In all countries 80 per cent of what we do is the same,” he said. “We have global inventory which will be more accessible. European resellers will still see the same good services, but will also see new programmes and tools.”
