Scalable praises secure investment
VAR says investments in security helped it to win deal with Alta Berkley
VAR Scalable Networks has claimed that its investments in security helped it to win its latest deal.
Scalable announced a deal for an undisclosed sum with venture capitalist Alta Berkley to implement a Secure Socket Layer virtual private network.
Simon Brown, director at Scalable, said the venture capitalist company is a new customer that the reseller won through its own Internet Gateway blueprint.
"The solution we have put in is part of a blueprint we are evangelising. It provides customers with high-performance, scalable, resilient internet access," he said.
"We have been investing in security for about two years and it is paying off."
He said it was a natural progression from Scalable's networking background, adding that more and more businesses rely on the internet, so the VAR has put together more product bundles.
Kevin Vine, director of networking at distributor Ingram Micro, explained that security is a focus area for the firm. "It goes hand in hand in today's market," he said.
"Whether resellers have an awareness of the security on offer and can provide the skills needed may decide if they win business or not. But they can partner with a firm that has the skills if they do not have them themselves."
