NetApp: IT professionals to "make do" in 2010

Survey of 200 IT professionals reveals budget constraints will remain big challenge in 2010

IT professionals plan to rely on existing IT infrastructure to save costs this year

Budget constraints mean that almost half of all IT professionals will have to stick with the IT infrastructure they have this year, research claims.

In a poll of 200 UK IT professionals by storage vendor NetApp, 48 per cent said they plan to “utilise the technology assets they have” in order to make efficiency and cost savings in 2010.

Additionally, 34 per cent said that working with limited IT budget would be one of their biggest challenges this year, while just 10 per cent said reducing their carbon footprint would be a priority.

Dave Allen, UK managing director at NetApp, said: “Despite signs of economic recovery, this research shows that IT departments are still very cautious. Keeping costs low remains at the very top of the IT agenda.

He added: “Going green is still on the list, but has been overshadowed by a need to cut expenditure and drive down costs.”
