Centerprise big results helped by small image

Custom PC manufacturer Centerprise has posted record financial results for the 1995 year end. Turnover was up 19 per cent to #35 million, and profit up by more than 70 per cent to #4.2 million.

Centerprise, which OEMs PCs for dealers and end users, achieves half of its sales through the channel. The company is now looking for dealers to take its PCs and to put their name on them.

'The dealer can put their name on the PC and add value straight-away,' said channel development manager Steve McCall. He said that Centerprise sales had been boosted by an increase in its business with Vars, which had realised that brand-name PCs were an unnecessary cost.

McCall said that Centerprise - which has the highest growth rate of any UK PC manufacturer in the 1995 ICC report - had benefited from not being a well-known name. 'Being bigger than you sound is a good tactical ploy,' he said.
