Ingram makes second AIDC purchase

Broadliner is fast building out a pan-European data capture empire following quick-fire acquisitions of German and French outfits

Ingram Micro has made its second European acquisition in the area of automatic identification and data capture (AIDC) in a week, grabbing Germany-based Intertrade for an undisclosed sum.

The agreement, which is expected to close before the end of the year, follows on from its purchase of France-based Eurequat on Tuesday. The broadliner also bought UK outfit Paradigm earlier this year.

Intertrade, which boasts operations in Germany, Switzerland, Austria and Israel, will be integrated in the Ingram Micro Data Capture/POS division. The division will be led by the previous management, Axel Friedrich, who will report into Johan Vandenbussche, vice president of Ingram Micro EMEA.

Jay Forbes, president of Ingram Micro EMEA, said: “Axel and his team have built a strong market presence throughout Germany, Switzerland, Austria and Israel that will be highly complementary.

Axel Friedrich, chairman of the board of Intertrade, said: “This development is positive for our company, as well for our vendor partners and customers.

Richard Hudson MSSI vice president of Motorola, said: “Enterprise Mobility is a hot topic for companies across the region and analyst reports show this trend is set to continue.”
