CDEC onto a PFI winner
Educational VAR grabs part of £36m Private Finance Initiative
Educational VAR CDEC has cashed-in on part of a £36m Private Finance Initiative (PFI) scheme in the London Borough of Bexley and installed 100 Promethean interactive whiteboards (IWB) at Bexleyheath secondary school.
The PFI scheme provided funds for the design, construction, finance and operation for Bexleyheath and another school in Welling.
Steve Jarman, IT strategy manager at Bexleyheath, said: “IWBs are an essential tool for modern day teaching and the PFI has enabled us to implement the technology school-wide. We chose Promethean because we realised that its hardware and Activstudio software combination was the best to create a dynamic learning environment.”
Projector security was also a key consideration for Bexleyheath. The Promethean systems were supplied with the Sanyo PLC-XE30 LCD, which feature a built in pin-coded lock to prevent the projector from being operated if it is taken offsite.
Steve Dracup, managing director of Promethean said: “PFI is a high profile initiative that enables schools throughout the country to regenerate their buildings and teaching environments by incorporating innovative technology.”
