Acer turns to Bluewave for Web support

Web design company Bluewave has been given the task of maintaining Acer's channel policy, pushing business to resellers via the internet.

London-based Bluewave has fulfilled the design of Acer's online ordering site. Bluewave's clients include Morse, The National Grid, Unilever, Glaxo Wellcome and the FTSE.

Alex Barnett, business director at Bluewave, said: 'We created an extranet for Acer resellers and distributors, but the latest development of online ordering for the public was a challenge to design. We had to utilise the full potential of the internet but also maintain Acer's clear channel policy.'

He added Bluewave's design pushed business from the Website to local resellers, including information on the value add potential of the business.

He said: 'We are approached with more and more mergers or acquisition offers. We have seen too many competitors taken over and lose independence. We've found the market is getting serious. The Net is no longer seen as a technology thing but as a business thing.'

The Durlacher Quarterly Internet Report revealed that there were more than 4,500 new .uk registrations per month. It also found that of the 51 per cent of internet-enabled SMEs without Websites, 30 per cent aimed to develop a Web presence in the next six months and 65 per cent within 18 months.
