Opera and Business Master plan a duet

Pegasus Software and Barclays Bank are working towards releasing an electronic banking and accounting package combining Barclays Business Master and Pegasus Opera.

The accountancy software vendor claims the integrated service will simplify banking and accounting as it will enable banking transactions to be generated from within Opera Cashbook software, without the need to rekey data.

Jonathan Hubbard-Ford, chief executive of Pegasus, said: 'No one else has integrated such products. You don't have to close down Opera and go into Business Master to keep up to date on bank statements. People will still go overdrawn but they'll know about it more quickly.'

Opera Electronic Cashbook will cost between u400 and u600 and will be released in Q2 of next year through the usual Pegasus reseller channel.

GE Information Services has become a member of Pegasus' Working With programme, designed to promote integration between electronic commerce solutions and accounting software. Hubbard-Ford presented John Thorpe, MD of the EDI supplier, with the Pegasus Working With certificate at last month's Electronic Commerce show.
