Antenna feels its way into the consumer market

Vendor acquires US-based rival to boost coverage in consumer space

Antenna hopes deal will increase take up of solutions in consumer market space

Mobile enterprise application specialist Antenna Software has acquired rival vendor Vaultus Mobile Technologies.

Antenna said the deal would enable it to increase its footprint within the " consumer-facing enterprise" space, with particular emphasis on financial and retail verticals.

The acquisition comes less than a year since the firm's buy out of mobile applications vendor Dexterra to give its European market coverage a boost.

Jim Hemmer, chief executive at Antenna Software, said: “With Vaultus [on board], Antenna is now uniquely positioned as the only independent global-scale mobile company to lead on enterprise and consumer-facing mobility.”

Gene Signorini, vice president of market watcher Yankee Group’s Anywhere Enterprise Research division, said the acquisition would enable Antenna to deliver the same type of user experience to both business and consumer customers.

“Employees are demanding that mobile applications for business deliver the same type of user experiences that they are accustomed to getting from their personal life," he said.

“With this acquisition, Antenna has positioned itself to tap directly into these mobile market dynamics.”
