Clarity announces job cuts
'Handful' of workers made redundant in 2003 planning process
Sun Channel Development partner Clarity has confirmed a "handful" of staff redundancies as part of its 2003 planning process.
Last month the firm was quick to play down rumours of job losses. However, it told vnunet.com's sister title Computer Reseller News last week that the cuts had been made in areas that will not affect the day-to-day running of the firm.
Simon Welch, group marketing manager at Clarity, said: "It wouldn't be appropriate to go into detail on the number of staff that have left the firm; we have laid off a handful of people."
He added that Clarity had enjoyed a successful 2002, and had won contracts with Nortel, F5 and Legato.
"We are not looking at massive growth this year, so we have had to make sure our overheads are in line with our expected income," said Welch.
Steve Raby, director of partner sales at Sun, indicated that Clarity is in a strong position.
"We have been working with Clarity on this for some time," he said. "Many businesses have undergone similar processes recently, due to market conditions."
