A deal signed last month with Tektronix will allow network integrator Memorex Telex to sell network colour printers for the first time. It will be offering the Phaser 140 liquid inkjet printer, 340 laser class solid ink printer and 550 colour laser printer as part of its networking and storage solution ranges.
Mainframe clone maker Amdahl moved into the server market last week and said it will work with Intel to produce advanced Pentium Pro chips.
Gateway 2000 is hiring 1,200 staff at its Dublin site, as part of a IRu25 million investment in Ireland. This will be partly funded by the Irish government's Industrial Development Authority. The Dublin facility was opened in 1993 with 120 staff and handles all sales for Europe.
Data Translation Networking has announced it is to distribute Newbridge Networks Switch programme for Lan ATM. The programme provides users with all the kit needed to build a switched virtual routing solution and includes software training and support for Newbridge's Vivid Release 2 software.
