Metcalf leaves hole in C2000 specialist unit
Computer 2000 veteran Jim Metcalf has ended his eight-year association with the distributor.
According to a channel source, Metcalf, who was director of the Workstation 2000 division, agreed to leave last week over a performance issue. It was understood that the distributor was unhappy because it had been unable to make in-roads into Metrologie's dominance in Digital's high-end Alpha server market.
Metcalf joined C2000 in 1990 as marketing manager, before taking the divisional director's job with responsibility for SunSoft, Informix and Digital lines.
Commenting on Metcalf's departure, Graeme Watt, managing director of C2000, said: 'I wish Jim all the very best. He has done a good job for us.'
Bob Grindley, marketing manager at Metrologie, said: 'We have 80 per cent market share with Alpha. It is easy to see why C2000 would have struggled.'
Robert Mountain, former chairman of Metrologie, has sent a letter of thanks to his suppliers and vendors. He revealed to PC Dealer that he was considering taking up a full-time job at CHS Electronics.
