ICIA publish audiovisual guide to help channel see clearly
Industry body hopes guide will help VARs understand the market better
The International Communications Industries Association (ICIA) has published an audiovisual (AV) best practice book in an attempt to enable the channel to better understand the market.
Audiovisual Best Practices: The Design and Integration Process for the AV and Construction Industries is aimed at architects, engineers, businesses and AV professionals and acts as a “complete resource guide for AV installations”.
Randal Lemke, executive director at the ICIA, said the success of an AV implementation depends on a number of considerations. “AV professionals are increasingly concerned with the bigger picture in systems integration. They and their collaborators from other disciplines need to know how the entire building, construction or renovation will affect the AV system.
“Successful AV installation and integration requires a strong relationship among the members of a building team, who must know as much as possible about AV projects and how they are accomplished,” he said.
The book presents an overview of the industry and also includes an assessment of its future.
Neil Frackiewicz, an account manager at analyst GfK, said: “The majority of the AV market is business sales and this book is the sort of information guide that could appeal to the reseller community. Smaller AV resellers could also benefit because it will help them understand the market.”
