ICL set to slash PC Pro prices
The PC and server arm of ICL has cut the prices of its Ergo Pro PC range by up to 22 per cent in line with its major rivals IBM, Compaq and HP (PC Dealer, 6 March) and has launched a Lan server line, Teamserver Gi.
Announced at Cebit, the launch is intended to increase ICL volume products' competition with Hewlett Packard's Netserver LH, and Compaq's Proliant 1500 machines.
David Mills, MD of ICL volume products, claimed the move means ICL retains a 10 per cent price premium over Compaq in its main European markets of France, Germany and the UK. He said the price cuts had been intended 'to make sure that we retain our highly competitive position against other vendors'.
