Specsavers takes second look at Cryptocard

VAR helps optician expand its deployment of two-factor authentication solution

Specsavers says it is already seeing the cost benefits of CRYPTO-MAS

Two-factor authentication (2FA) vendor Cryptocard has expanded deployment of its CRYPTO-MAS solution at Specsavers, with the help of Hampshire-based reseller Europacom.

The optician initially rolled out the cloud-based 2FA service to 700 of its users. Two years on, it has opted to go for a wider rollout.

Cryptocard stressed that not a single token failed during the 24-month period.

The vendor added that the CRYPTO-MAS management portal enables Specsavers to create groups to represent each branch office so they can instantly allocate and retract tokens.

Angus Dorey, IT security manager at Specsavers, said feedback from the optician's staff and end users had been positive.

“The tiered user groups have allowed us to implement and manage two-factor authentication globally, and delegate administration,” he said.

“There are obvious cost and resource savings for us when using reliable long-life tokens and we are already seeing those benefits."
