Lanway launches recruitment drive

VAR to beef up headcount as it waits for result of Buying Solutions framework

Seat of power: Buying Solutions winners will be announced on Friday

VAR Lanway has kicked off a recruitment drive and claims it is on course to grow turnover by about eight per cent this year.

The HP Gold partner, which has offices in Burnley and Bracknell, has just taken on a four-strong telesales team and has eight more telesales and account management vacancies to fill.

Commercial director Andrew Henderson said it would recruit even more " aggressively" if it makes it onto Buying Solutions’ new government IT procurement framework, the winners of which will be announced on Friday.

Henderson said: “Our technical services team is strong and we have been successful on a number of contracts. We need more people to generate demand for us to fulfil.”

Lanway is also on the hunt for a sales manager following the recent departure of sales director Richard Bovingdon. He is set to take on an education-focused role at distributor Micro Peripherals.

Henderson said that 64-strong Lanway is on course to grow revenues from £14.3m to roughly £15.5m for its financial year to the end of March. Just three years ago its turnover stood at £8.9m. Profit is also on course to rise by 20 per cent, he added.

Lanway was one of 19 resellers to make it through to the pre-qualifying stage for the desktop hardware Lot of Buying Solutions' £6bn framework. Just 12 firms will be given the nod, Henderson said.

“There is some tough competition in there but I would like to think we have a good chance,” said Henderson.
