Sales director leaves C2000

Alastair Brett joins rival distributor Ideal Hardware

Computer 2000 (C2000) lost one of its senior executives last week as its sales director Alastair Brett left to take up the country manager post at rival distributor Ideal Hardware.

The UK arm of Tech Data recently reported a $59.4m loss for the period ended 31 July and chief executive Steve Raymund, told CRN the distributor still had “quite a bit of work to do in Europe,” (CRN, 5 September).

Steve Lockie, managing director of C2000, told CRN last week that Brett had been put on gardening leave with immediate effect.

“We have been restructuring the business and Alastair has been with C2000 for quite some time and it was time for a change. He wanted to continue his career elsewhere.

“We have had some good years with him and it has all ended very amicably and we wish him all the best in his new role.”

Lockie said the distributor would be looking to find a replacement for Brett, but in the meantime he would temporarily take on the sales director role.

“Part of our restructure was to encourage our separate country managing directors to be more customer and vendor facing,” he added.

Graeme Watt, president of Bell Microproducts Europe, parent company of Ideal Hardware, said: “Alastair is joining us in November and will take control of Ideal’s sales and its commercial Hewlett-Packard business.

“We are bringing in a veteran who has lots of experience as well as a proven track record in the industry and we are very pleased to have him on board.”
