Maxdata moves to notebooks
Maxdata UK, which has sold monitors locally for the past two years, launched itself into the Intel-based notebook business at the Computer Trade Show at the NEC in Birmingham last week.
The company has sold notebooks into the German market for some years.
It is targeting its UK machines, which are sold under the Artist brand, at dealers in the SME markets.
Maxdata is part of German retail giant Metro AG, which at one time also owned Vobis and Peacock. Peacock was sold last year while Vobis, which still has several hundred stores in Germany, is up for sale. Maxdata, on the other hand, is set to float on the German stock market in June.
At the end of last year, two banks agreed to form a holding company called Divag to mastermind Maxdata's IPO and the Vobis sell-off.
