Teac signs Dynatek to gain channel presence
Japanese storage vendor Teac has signed distributor Dynatek after stating that it had insufficient market coverage from its existing partners AGP Peripherals and Tekdata.
The storage solutions distributor will be focusing on Teac's CD-Recorder product, which was launched this month. The company is mounting a two-pronged sales attack on the retail and SoHo market with what it calls a Dynatek-branded 'bare bones' kit for dealers and a Teac CD recording kit for the consumer market.
Oliver Barnes, marketing director of Dynatek, said: 'We are delighted to add Teac's new CD-Recorder unit to our portfolio. We want to get into different markets and Teac has got the name to help us do that.'
Dynatek has been selling other Teac products as an OEM for nearly six months. It also sells Fujitsu, Hewlett Packard and Sony solutions under the Dynatek name.
Dynatek had a turnover of u6 million last year and is the UK subsidiary of a Canadian-based storage firm of the same name.
