Ebuyer strengthens management team
e-tailer appoints new IT director to drive the business forward
Online retailer Ebuyer has strengthened its senior management team with the appointment of Chris Martin as IT director, with responsibility for delivering technology solutions and managing Ebuyer's IT infrastructure and systems.
Martin has 20 years experience in the IT industry, including an eight year stint at IBM UK in a variety of roles including systems architect, open systems centre technology manager and chief technology officer.
Prior to joining Ebuyer, Martin spent five years building the technology delivery and support capability for internet search site, 'Ask Jeeves' in Europe.
Ebuyer chief executive, Bob Armao, said: "We're delighted to have someone of Chris's calibre join the board at Ebuyer and his experience and credentials will be a major asset to the business. Chris will take a lead role in the successful growth of the business, ensuring we have the technical infrastructure in place as we continue to develop at the phenomenal rate we have achieved to date.''
The appointment is part of Ebuyer's strategy to strengthen its infrastructure as it plans for further growth, and coincides with the company's move to a new £19m headquarters and distribution centre in Howden, East Yorkshire.
Martin said: "Online retail is currently one of the fastest growing sectors in the UK, and Ebuyer is one of the most dynamic etailers in the sector, so for me the new role presents a great opportunity to be at the heart of the company's ongoing development."
Earlier this week Ebuyer announced it was downsizing its US business to concentrate the majority of its resources into its UK operations.
