Logicalis hints at acquisitions

Reseller pursues $1bn in sales

Logicalis is pushing towards $1bn in revenue for this year and may look for acquisitions to help it achieve its goal.

The VAR reported sales increased 37 per cent year-on-year last week and parent company Datatec reported that sales rose 17 per cent.

Ian Cook, chief executive of Logicalis, told CRN: “We are growing faster than the market organically, not just through our previous acquisitions. I will be disappointed if we don’t reach $1bn turnover for this year.”

When asked of any possible acquisitions this year, he said: “I am always looking, but we are not in a position to just be a consolidator. There is no point in us swallowing up other companies just to get bigger.

“It would have to be something that complements our business; in the UK we want to bolster our managed services business and in the US we want to get further into unified communications, so this is two areas where we may consider an acquisition.”

Alistair Edwards, senior analyst at Canalys, said: “Managed services is absolutely where Logicalis needs to be, at least for a proportion of its business. This is where there is a growing customer base and lots of opportunity.”
