Oracle resellers to help manage licences
Firm offers new revenue stream to partners
Oracle is beginning to offer partners the chance to resell advanced product services and licence management.
Trudy Norris-Grey, vice-president of multi-channel sales at Oracle UK, said: "Next year there will be extra revenue streams [for resellers] in licences and services. The pipeline for Ebusiness Suite Special Edition is building nicely.
"We've also launched OPN Quickstart to get resellers into the mid-market with Standard Edition One sales."
Software asset management (SAM) is becoming increasingly important to the channel and software vendors. Norris-Grey also cited EU plans, championed by Secretary of State for Trade and Industry Patricia Hewitt, to make the EU the strongest economy by 2010, as a sales driver.
"People know they need to get IT to deliver the sort of efficiency to the end-user that the current economy requires," she said.
Mark Robinson, director at consultant Edenbrook, said: "Most companies don't want to break the law on software licensing, and Oracle understands this. It is looking at offering these services to clients, and to credit people like us to do that job."
