Dell's Scottish office opens

Vendor officially opens Scottish-based business centre

Dell’s first Scottish office has now been officially opened (CRN, 21 November).

Located at City Park in Glasgow, the business centre will provide sales and technical support for UK businesses and public sector organisations.

Almost 300 new recruits are in place and the office is on target to employ more than 400 people in total next year, Dell said.

Niall Scolard, director and general manager at Dell in Glasgow, said: “We are delighted to have invested in Scotland, where we have a long-term commitment to working in partnership with Paisley University and Scottish Enterprise Glasgow to pilot the Dell Technology Academy.”

But Lee Bevan, managing director of VAR Leapfrog Computers, was unhappy with the move. “VARs like us are all struggling because of firms like Dell. They are foreign companies that don’t give a damn about our economy,” he claimed.
