Interactive Ideas kicks off recruitment drive

Distributor aims to pick up 50-100 mid-sized VARs for Red Hat

Linux distributor Interactive Ideas has kicked off a reseller recruitment and education drive on behalf of
Red Hat following the launch of the vendor’s Linux Enterprise 5 product.
Interactive Ideas is aiming to add to the 350 corporate resellers and specialist boutiques already on
its books by recruiting between 50 and 100 mid-sized VARs yet to embrace Linux.
To support the expansion, the distributor has now launched SimplyRedHat.com, a microsite designed to educate resellers about how to implement Linux Enterprise 5 at end user organisations.
Mike Trup, managing director of Interactive Ideas, said: “More customers are deploying Linux somewhere in the enterprise, yet there are still a good number of VARs that only have Windows skills.”
Peter Dawes-Huish, chief executive of VAR LinuxIT, agreed that the market is growing. “The Linux market has grown 40 per cent in the past year, but the main reason for this is its adoption into the datacentre as a replacement for Unix,” he said.
