Rock seeks VARs to lift LCD sales

System builder turns to the channel

System builder Rock is turning to the channel as it propels itself in a new direction with the launch of an LCD TV featuring an integrated PC.

Available from the end of April, meivo offers the same functionality as a PC and is operated with a wireless mouse and keyboard. Incorporating a 22in wide screen display, meivo will be high definition-ready and support an Intel Core 2 duo desktop processor.

Some have compared it to Elonex’s PC/TV, but Nick Boardman, chief executive of Rock, told CRN: “Meivo is designed to be a second TV for a kitchen, study, or bedroom – we’re not trying to replace the main TV.”

Rock is looking for resellers and retailers to sell meivo. “It will be the first time we will have had Rock-branded products sold through the channel. We’re also looking for a distributor or two – not broadliners though, specialists,” said Boardman.

Lee Baker, divisional manager for home entertainment and displays at Midwich, said: “We were Elonex’s biggest distributor so we would be interested in having a chat with Rock about meivo.”
