Lantec name is dud in Elcom's buy drive
Lantec has changed its name to Elcom to fall in line with its US parent company.
A representative of Elcom said the change is driven by corporate and administrative needs as the company prepares itself for acquisitions.
(PC Dealer, 3 July).
The PC products and services sales division of the company will be the only part of the organisation still called Lantec.
Elcom Technical Services will look after consultancy, network installation and support, helpdesk solutions, systems engineering and strategic technology.
Warehousing, configuration, finance, MIS, procurement and marketing fall under the remit of Elcom Commercial Services.
Kevin Thackrah, joint MD with responsibilities for Elcom Commercial Services, said: 'We are organising the company into logical divisions that will make it easier to support new acquisitions. We intend to continue to expand the business significantly.'
Elcom marketing and communications manager Stephen Bell said: 'New additions to the Elcom group will find it easier to resell the parent company's ISO 9002 technical services, taking advantage of the Elcom name. The new divisions will also make management and delegation much easier within the company.'
