C&W shuffles channel staff

Third reorganisation in five years could see swingeing channel staff cuts

Cable & Wireless (C&W) has restructured its channel organisation for the third time in five years.

Eamonn Dullaghan, vice-president of indirect channels at C&W, has left the firm.

There has also been speculation that the company has cut 40 per cent of its channel staff, including redundancies and reassignment to other parts of C&W.

However, Terry Mckeever, director of solution partners at the firm, said: "It's too sensitive to say how many have gone, but the figure is not as high as 40 per cent.

"Most of the people working for the channel business have been here a minimum of 12 months."

Mckeever added that changes would not have an impact on most partners.

But sources within the firm were less positive. "The old team has been disbanded," said one former employee. "C&W wanted to streamline the team."

Steve Brazier, chief executive of analyst Canalys, said: "C&W has been through so much change in the past 18 months, its partners don't know whether it is coming or going."
