Bell reaffirms security commitment
Despite scrapping security director role, distributor insists its security focus will not change
Bell Micro is axing the post of security director, but claims it remains committed to growing its security practice.
Steve Browell, security director, confirmed he will leave the distributor at the end of May after completing a one-year fixed contract.
Responsibility for the unit will then be handed to one of Bell’s internal managers, he confirmed.
“My job was to invigorate the security business and that job is now at an end. There will be no change in strategy,” he said.
Browell added it is highly likely that he will stay in the channel.
“But I am keeping an open mind as to whether it will be at a reseller, vendor or distributor,” he said.
Keith Bird, vice president of EMEA at Bell vendor partner SonicWall, is confident Bell will maintain its security focus.
“Any change in reporting lines will not make a difference to Bell’s commitment to the security space,” he said.
