Opportunity NOCs for VAR
Omnetica launches operations centre in US
UK VAR Omnetica has expanded across the pond and launched a network operations centre (NOC) in the US, with the collaboration of a long-term partner.
The NOC, built in partnership with Contemporary Computer Services (CCS), will provide network support, fault, performance and change management.
"We have three NOCs in Europe that manage 75 customers," said Peter Halls, chief executive of Omnetica. "About half of our customers have US interests, and this is a way to support them."
Halls added that the firm will not try to compete with large outsourcing firms targeting huge enterprises, but instead will aim at medium to large firms that want to choose which parts of their IT infrastructure they hand over to third parties to manage.
Paul Rennuci, managing director of Omnetica rival Damovo, said his firm also partners with technical support firms in regions that it does not cover.
"We will not compete with the big boys but will support them in our areas of expertise," he said. "They can offer all the services that we cannot."
