3Com focuses on UK sales

Vendor aims for more direct customer contact

Vendor 3Com has said it is reviewing its UK sales operation after resellers claimed the company needed to have a more direct touch with customers.

Buddie Ceronie, a regional director at the firm, has taken over UK sales and is responsible for the review, which is expected to last two weeks.

"The UK has always been a key market for us and it will become increasingly important," said Ceronie. "We need to optimise our UK sales team. We are doing this because a number of our resellers have told us we need a more direct touch."

A representative of 3Com confirmed that the positions of the senior managers, including country manager Paul Malcolm, are under review.

Robin Newbury, managing director of 3Com reseller CSN, said more direct contact enables manufacturers to keep up with what's going on in the market.

"Customers want more face-to-face with vendors," he said. "This allows VARs to use 3Com resources to make sales."
