Datrontech appoints new finance director

Specialist distributor Datrontech Group has appoin-ted a group finance director to take over the reigns from Stephen Antram, following his return to his own tax and financial consultancy in Brighton.

Gerard Connolly has joined Datrontech after leaving newspaper and magazine wholesaler Dawson Holdings last Friday and will start on 1 August. Connolly?s appointment comes at a time of significant change for Datrontech as it laid off 25 staff last month and introduced its Dtech own brand products this month.

This is the second major appointment by the distributor this month, following the arrival of Alison Heath as sales director, after she resigned from CHS Electronics (PC Dealer, 9 July).

Datrontech Group MD Mark Mulford, who had been sharing corporate financial responsibilities with Antram prior to the appointment, said he was happy to welcome Connolly on board. ?He will make a valuable contribution to the changes under way,? he said. ?Stephen originally joined us as a consultant and took the company through its flotation and listing in 1995 and the various acquisitions. Now it seems his work is more or less done and he can return to his own consultancy. He is a substantial shareholder in the company so he will remain linked to Datrontech.?
