Big Blue signs up Magirus for software
IBM appoints German services distributor for its UK business
IBM has appointed Magirus as a distributor for its software in the UK.
Tony Stirrup, business development manager at the hardware and services distributor, said: "We are already a software distributor in other areas of Europe, and have set up business units centrally in the UK that make it very easy to sell software."
Stirrup added that Magirus had almost finished putting its software team in place.
The distributor will not be focusing on particular vertical markets; Magirus's role will be to support its resellers and independent software vendors, he said.
"We can now be a one-stop shop for orders, and it gives our resellers the chance to offer more value-add," Stirrup said.
Probal Sil, business development director at IBM Premier Partner Elyzium, said: "To have an additional distributor that can provide value-add opportunities for resellers is good for the channel because it provides them with more choice, and it will keep competitors on their toes.
"From a European perspective, this gives IBM another option. InTechnology is pan-European and Avnet is also there.
"Magirus, being German, has a very strong foothold in Europe. It will be good to see it build business in the UK."
